Charles Ives’s birthday is on October 20!

Charles Ives turns 137 on October 20. Sing along to this video from Hilary’s album release party at The Stone  earlier this month. Hilary suggests wearing a hat on the big day, in honor of the composer.

Hilary Announces “In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores”

Hilary will commission over two dozen composers to write short-form pieces for acoustic violin and piano. She will tour these new works over the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and then record them. Of the project—called ”In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores”–she writes, “My initial goal was to expand the encore genre to embrace works (read more…)

Hilary performed at the annual NYC gala for Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camps

Hilary made a special appearance in New York City on October 21, joining other top performers for a gala evening titled “A Celebration of Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camps,” at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. The new record, of Jennifer Higdon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning violin concerto for Hilary, and the Tchaikovsky concerto, is out!

Hilary’s latest album release, Higdon & Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos, debuted at the number one position on Billboard’s Classical Overall and Classical Traditional charts after its release on September 21, 2010.
